When I was growing up, there were four times a year that we attended my Grandparents’ church: Easter, Mother’s Day, Homecoming, and for a second week of VBS. Even though we had our very own church, I don’t remember ever attending an Easter service there. It was always at my Grandparents' church. Every Easter Sunday was filled with wonderful memories: sunrise service with my grandfather; Easter baskets from my grandparents; church service with my entire family (aunts, uncles, cousins); hunting Easter eggs with all the other kids (pretty sure I was required to hunt even when I was 18); and dinner on the grounds (some of the best food known to man).
But I also remember the way we felt when we entered the church. It was as if we were HOME. We were greeted at the entrance by the church deacons (including my grandfather) with the weekly bulletin, to which I remember reading all the prayer requests; My grandfather passing the offering tray and the specific offering envelopes you could choose from – Lottie Moon or Weekly Tithe; Carefully removing the juice from Communion trays, as to not spill it on my Easter dress; And lastly, assisting my grandfather (the church treasurer) in counting the offering.
Knowing Easter is one of the most important, highly-attended church services of the year, planning and making sure that week of events is wonderful and life-giving, versus chaotic and overwhelming can be quite the task. What will you do to help make everyone feel welcome? What will you do make sure volunteers and church staff don’t get completely overwhelmed?
For ease, we’ve compiled a list of all the church supplies you will need to help make the service and message the most memorable part of the day. You can find all of the items on lifeway.com. Let’s spend more time on the message and less time on the housekeeping!

"And he took bread, gave thanks, broke it, gave it to them, and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way he also took the cup after supper and said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.”
