In this study, Beth introduces the study of David, a man after God's own heart and the shepherd king of Israel.
- Session 1: Introduction (54:14)—Beth sets the stage for David's story through his important predecessors, Samuel and King Saul.
- Session 2: Summoned From the Sheepfold (58:08)—Beth takes a deeper look at David's anointing, and in turn, at God's anointing on us. This session introduces David's relationship to king Saul.
- Session 3: Sowing the Seeds of Jealousy (56:07)—Digging into the relationship between Saul and David, Beth discusses the topics of disappointment, jealousy, conflict, and unmet expectations.
- Session 4: Survival Skills and He Who Wills (57:38)—In this session, Beth teaches us how to deal with the attacks of the Enemy. We see David in the midst of a personal crisis, as our protagonist becomes a man of war in a battle he did not choose.
- Session 5: Tragic Ends and Faithful Friends (57:07)—We are created for relationships. In this session, Beth challenges us to go further in fellowship with other believers and with Christ.
- Session 6: The Long Awaited Throne (58:32)—In this session at last we see David in a place of blessing, where God reestablishes the Davidic Covenant. Our lesson exposes core truths about God that keep us moving in our faith journey.
- Session 7: A Man After God's Own Heart (60:15)—In this session, Beth pleads with us to learn from David's life and guard ourselves against unfaithfulness. Digging into Psalm 19, we see how God reveals Himself to us and ponder how we will respond to that revelation.
- Session 8: The Wages of Sin (60:17)—As believers in Christ, we are blessed and forgiven. In this session we soak up this good news and celebrate this forgiveness.
- Session 9: The Unrelenting Sword (60:04)—In this session we can identify with David as he reaps the sins he has sown, specifically in the area of his family. Beth's lesson truly hits home as we reflect on our own family calamities.
- Session 10: Back Where He Belonged (56:42)—Discover anew God's hand on the life of David. In this session, Beth dives into four specific characteristics of David and shows us how those characteristics are intrinsically woven into the character of God.
- Session 11: The Final Years and Settled Fears (60:18)—In this final session, Beth concludes the study of David with his most famous psalm, spending time looking at the Lord as our Shepherd and Host. We see the 23rd Psalm in a new and fresh way as we complete our journey through the life of David.
